Package: eog
Version: 2.22.3-2
Severity: minor

(I don't know whether this should be considered as a bug or whether
the developers consciously chose this, so please update severity
accordingly.)

When eog is invoked to open a single named file (eog /tmp/foo.jpg), it
nevertheless opens and reads every single file in the same directory,
for no understandable reason (even those that don't look even remotely
like they might be an image).

This is not only inefficient, it is also problematic: if some user on
the system occasionally stores temporary images in /tmp and views them
from there using eog, then the /tmp will never be cleaned up because
every file's atime gets updated every time this happens.

So, please don't open files that were not explicitly designated by the
user!
