/usr/lib/pkgconfig/mono-addins-gui-0.2.pc /usr/lib/pkgconfig/mono-addins-gui.pc Contain this line: Requires: gnome-sharp-2.0 gtk-sharp-2.0 glade-sharp-2.0 mono-addins This means that applications being compiled against Mono.Addins.Gui and that use pkgconfig to locate the library paths will fail to build if libgnome2.0-cil is not installed.
