This would be a regression for most users that expect wws to work more or less "out-of-the-box", though :-/ I think the problem lies in the absence of a policy for supporting packaging of web apps and virtual servers in Debian (or at least none that I know... but IANADD of course ;) Similar problems come for support of HTTPS vs HTTP on same machine (kinda same problem as virtual hosts). My advice would be to not change the current way it is packaged, and tag it wontfix... and maybe try and discuss that on d-d@ list ?
