Hi Simon,
Unfortunately I'm not able to reproduce this here.

This is weird in your gdb output:

| warning: core file may not match specified executable file.

Did you specify /usr/bin/python as executable? Can I ask you to rebuild
gtk-vnc via:

        apt-get source gtk-vnc # make soure you get 0.3.7-4
        cd gtk-vnc-0.3.7
        DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=noopt,nostrip dpkg-buildpackage -rfakeroot

and install the resulting packages. Doing so will give us very accurate
information instead of just:
|  1108  /build/buildd/gtk-vnc-0.3.7/./src/vncdisplay.c: No such file or
directory.
|       in /build/buildd/gtk-vnc-0.3.7/./src/vncdisplay.c
and we might in fact be able to pinpoint the problem.
Cheers,
