Package: e2fsprogs Version: 1.37-2 Severity: normal File: /sbin/fsck fsck -fnc /dev/whatever does not honor the -n flag; instead, it will actually restore the journal. (I didn't wait to see what else it will do.)
While there *is* a warning about doing fsck on a mounted filesystem, there is no warning that -n (which is supposed to make this safe) will not be honored. This is especially dangerous as -fn works just fine, and -c is supposed to be read-only anyway, so there is no expectation that any writes will actually be attempted until that happens. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers experimental APT policy: (550, 'experimental'), (550, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.4.23+kai.62 Locale: LANG=de_DE, LC_CTYPE=de_DE (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Versions of packages e2fsprogs depends on: ii e2fslibs 1.37-2 ext2 filesystem libraries ii libblkid1 1.37-2 block device id library ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libcomerr2 1.37-2 common error description library ii libss2 1.37-2 command-line interface parsing lib ii libuuid1 1.37-2 universally unique id library -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
