One follow-up... The libpam-runtime and pam-auth-config changes are dependent on some PAM enhancements by Steve Langasek which are in Ubuntu, but might not yet be in Debian. I'll ask Steve to comment on what's missing in Debian, required by this patch, and when it might land in Debian.
