Package: apcupsd
Version: 3.10.17-2
Severity: important

When I disconnect the USB cable the apcupsd process
becomes defunct:

ps aux | grep apcupsd
root 3374 0.0 0.0 0 0 ? Zs
00:37 0:01 [apcupsd] <defunct>
tavi 32155 0.0 0.1 1836 588 pts/5 R+
18:09 0:00 grep apcupsd

The apcupsd cannot be restarted without a machine
reboot after such a cable disconnect

According to the apcupsd developers this is a kernel
bug (I am running the stock kernel for sarge - 2.6.8).
This seems to be consistent with the fact that
upgrading to kernel 2.6.11 fixes the problem.

See the following for the discussion on the apcupsd
