I forgot to mention on my most recent mail to #500734, I consider this file(1) breakage to be a release critical bug because, unlike the magic_load breakage, I have no way to work around it so that an application that uses this feature can expect to work on etch and lenny. This is worse than just breaking the inferface, it's giving wrong answers that used to be right.
