It seems that the files needed are in arch/powerpc/platforms/embedded6xx/

Yes, it does.

"make all" creates:

* a vmlinux in the root directory of the kernel tree
* a zImage in arch/powerpc/boot/
* a uImage in arch/powerpc/boot/
