I'm all for it. I'd like to make the switch upstream coordinating it with Joan, though. Lately he's been introducing fixes to all the problems we were patching in the packages. While Joan fixes his stuff, we can obviously iconv it during the package build. Hopefully he will agree to recode it as well.
