Package: aptitude
Version: 0.4.11.8-1
Severity: normal

The mysterious relationship between standalone apt and apt as a backend for
dselect apparently wasn't confusing enough - now there is the same kind of
confusion between plain apt-get and aptitude :-(

Namely, with this somewhere in the apt config area:

APT
{
  Update
  {
    Post-Invoke {"/usr/sbin/sync-available"; };
  };
};

"apt-get update" does the right thing - /var/lib/dpkg/available is synced.
"aptitude update" doesn't.

Why, oh why, can't aptitude just shell out apt-get to do this task?
