I've tried to play this game, and think it's "unusable or mostly so" in its current state. Character creation is required, but seems to be impossible. I haven't played before, so created a new account on the "pop" server, and reached the character creation screen [1]. The character-type drop-down box has no options to choose from, and clicking on the drop-down causes an error to be repeatedly printed on stdout: "[Error] Caught Unknown Exception" [1] The one that is identified as "character creation screen" on http://www.worldforge.org/dev/eng/clients/sear/quickstart although the background is just the Sear logo. (I'll log that as a new bug if you wish, but assume it's caused by the version mismatch.) Bug #496244 says that it's mostly unplayable if you get as far as exploring the world; it's not stated whether that bug's submitter created the character with the current version or an earlier one.
