The boot system need a radical change to work better with the new event based and async kernel, and this issue is one of many problems related to the async events. > What about this? If all you want is to add sleep 5 in your boot sequence, you do not have to edit checkfs.sh to do it. Just add a new init.d script doing the 'sleep 5', and symlink it in at the correct location in /etc/rcS.d/ (ie before checkfs.sh).
