I am going to be doing a reinstall, so will check if I got this report right. I do know that even though I have software raid grub is reporting that it can't read the partition five times (the number of disks in the system, most of which are used for a second raid device, not the one for /boot), but I've realize that might just mean it's checking the disk, but not because it is not also check the md device.
grub changes the source disk not the md device I know, but it is update-grub that matters. If update-grub is updating mounted /boot then this doesn't matter. I do know that the raid partitions aren't being automatically started, and I have to figure out why, which is why I'm reinstalling and seeing what happens. It's not a problem for another system with ide raid, so I'm not sure what gives. Maybe the devices aren't responding quickly enough. Anyway I suspect this was noise, Sorry it was. Regards, Daniel -- And that's my crabbing done for the day. Got it out of the way early, now I have the rest of the afternoon to sniff fragrant tea-roses or strangle cute bunnies or something. -- Michael Devore GnuPG Key Fingerprint 86 F5 81 A5 D4 2E 1F 1C http://gnupg.org The C Shore: http://www.wightman.ca/~cshore
