Package: winbind Version: 2:3.2.1-1+lenny1 Followup-For: Bug #496569
Just a note that this behavior still exists in the current samba/winbind packages. Also a correction to my initial report -- the long initial delay does occur on boot, it was being masked by a login. If /etc/nsswitch.conf has "files winbind" set for passwd and group, any user authentication will be delayed, but after that winbind will be responsive until restarted. Also, if I restart winbind to trigger the delay any other user authentication will be delayed. For example, restarting winbind and issuing a wbinfo -u will cause winbind to pause. During that pause users that log in will be presented with a username and password prompt, but after entering their password the system will wait until the winbind -u finishes before completing the login. This is the same for console logins, ssh, even something that requires user authentication like Swat or CUPS. Again, this behavior is the same on this workstation as well as a fresh install of Lenny that I put together specifically to test this issue. This could very well be caused by some particulars of my AD setup, but the Etch 3.0.24-6 packages are working perfectly. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-686 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages winbind depends on: ii adduser 3.110 add and remove users and groups ii libc6 2.7-13 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libcomerr2 1.41.0-3 common error description library ii libkrb53 1.6.dfsg.4~beta1-3 MIT Kerberos runtime libraries ii libldap-2.4-2 2.4.10-3 OpenLDAP libraries ii libpam0g 1.0.1-3 Pluggable Authentication Modules l ii libpopt0 1.14-4 lib for parsing cmdline parameters ii libtalloc1 1.2.0~git20080616-1 hierarchical pool based memory all ii libwbclient0 2:3.2.1-1+lenny1 client library for interfacing wit ii lsb-base 3.2-19 Linux Standard Base 3.2 init scrip ii samba-common 2:3.2.1-1+lenny1 Samba common files used by both th winbind recommends no packages. winbind suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
