Reading through the earlier entries in this bug report, it appears that a change from depending on libgd2-xpm was changed to libgd2-noxpm.

This causes problems with having php4-gd installed on the same machine, as follows:

$ sudo apt-get install librrd0-dev
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
The following extra packages will be installed:
  libgd2-noxpm libgd2-noxpm-dev
The following packages will be REMOVED:
  libgd2-xpm php4-gd
The following NEW packages will be installed:
  libgd2-noxpm libgd2-noxpm-dev librrd0-dev

Is it safe to just grab the librrd0-dev package in the meantime, and force an install with only the libgd2-xpm package installed?

Will dependencies be fixed in the future?

Thanks
