The concept seems to have grown out of the 23-day grace period that you get at the start of the game. As long as you're in the grace period, your bases can't be discovered. Once you leave grace, however, having more than a handful of bases is like setting up road flares to guide the humans into noticing you. It's just not viable. 0.28 changed the system to give alternate conditions for leaving grace that get more strict with higher difficulty. Although there are still ways to get around this (Very Easy acts like old versions, for instance), building large numbers of invulnerable bases is considered an exploit, and thus not something we want to encourage. Not only that, adding this to the GUI could give the impression that you're supposed to build lots of bases, thus confusing newbies... and we already get a steady trickle who reach that (wrong) conclusion on their own. We appreciate the effort you put into the patch, but we just don't think this feature belongs in the game. -FunnyMan3595 (Charlie Nolan)
