Package: kmerlin Version: 1.4.2-3 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable
I can't connect to MSN with my account, [EMAIL PROTECTED], with nickname "Test". My sister couldn't when I asked her to test her account. I couldn't connect either on my other sarge machine. This machine was dist-upgraded today. The cause is probably MSN protocol changes, probably the one that triggered kdenetwork's 4:3.3.2-4 upload. Nevertheless, I don't think it's a good idea to ship a package that's already unusable at release time, particularly when, unlike kopete, it's only designed to connect to MSN, and there are no plans to put it in volatile, unlike gaim. I never used this package, so I'm not the best person to open this bug. Steps to reproduce: 1. $ kmerlin 2. Enter Login, any Nick name and corresponding Password. 3. Click Connect. Expected result : kmerlin shows connection success somehow. Actual result : "Not connected" in status bar changes to "Try other server", then back to "Not connected". kmerlin: Create new connection to: Server: messenger.hotmail.com Port:1863 kmerlin: KMService::sendProtocol : VER 0 MSNP9 kmerlin: kmerlin: KMService::sendServerPolicy: CVR 1 0x0409 winnt 5.1 i386 MSNMSGR 5.0.0 MSMSGS [EMAIL PROTECTED] kmerlin: kmerlin: KMService::sendServerPolicy: USR 2 TWN I [EMAIL PROTECTED] kmerlin: kmerlin: KMService::newConnect :: Connecting to new Server: Server: 207.46.107.42Port: 1863 kmerlin: KMService::sendProtocol : VER 0 MSNP9 kmerlin: kmerlin: KMService::sendServerPolicy: CVR 1 0x0409 winnt 5.1 i386 MSNMSGR 5.0.0 MSMSGS [EMAIL PROTECTED] kmerlin: kmerlin: KMService::sendServerPolicy: USR 2 TWN I [EMAIL PROTECTED] kmerlin: kmerlin: KMService::parseCommand m_authData: lc=1033,id=507,tw=40,fs=1,ru=http%3A%2F%2Fmessenger%2Emsn%2Ecom,ct=1118000584,kpp=1,kv=6,ver=2.1.6000.1,rn=RlgHMvch,tpf=e716b5609e1cbb0bde580fa5342afd90 kmerlin: KMService::parseCommand: https://login.passport.com/login.srf?lc=1033&id=507&tw=40&fs=1&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fmessenger%2Emsn%2Ecom&ct=1118000584&kpp=1&kv=6&ver=2.1.6000.1&rn=RlgHMvch&tpf=e716b5609e1cbb0bde580fa5342afd90 kopete (msn): MSNNotifySocket::slotAuthJobDone: lc=1033,id=507,tw=40,fs=1,ru=http%3A%2F%2Fmessenger%2Emsn%2Ecom,ct=1118000584,kpp=1,kv=6,ver=2.1.6000.1,rn=RlgHMvch,tpf=e716b5609e1cbb0bde580fa5342afd90 kopete (msn): MSNNotifySocket::slotAuthJobDone: cl: Set-Cookie: MSPRequ=lt=1118000584&co=1&id=507 kopete (msn): MSNNotifySocket::slotAuthJobDone: cl: Set-Cookie: MSPBack=1118000584; domain=.passport.com;path=/;version=1 kopete (msn): MSNNotifySocket::slotAuthJobDone: cookie: Cookie: MSPRequ=lt=1118000584&co=1&id=507;MSPBack=1118000584; QGArray::find: Index 0 out of range kopete (msn): MSNNotifySocket::slotAuthJobDone: <html><head><noscript>JavaScript required to sign in<meta http-equiv="Refresh" content="0; URL=https://login.passport.com/jsDisabled.srf?lc=1033"/></noscript><title>Continue</title><script type="text/javascript">function OnBack(){}function DoSubmit(){var subt=false;if(!subt){subt=true;document.fmHF.submit();}}</script></head><body onload="javascript:DoSubmit();"><form name="fmHF" id="fmHF" action="https://login.passport.net/uilogin.srf?lc=1033&id=507" method="post" target="_top"><input type="hidden" name="mspppostint" id="mspppostint" value="B92kVNUvYv7/SCgMsYYnnTD4v9+w+76pwvna/EvfdeGv8q4I84mhI6b6KcHGD9VOGb2GCPWdAxQ1IM7z26w/3bMfkGFB/AxNzKsIIuxOtSAYxuyEP5VvklNFRCr+sTzHuRX1Zwkuz7Yz5r8PDV95G+gK4Y79Lq/N6hMd960jSAHXLZCm2G4vRHCF3qKCbGu+5p/uMizqIvDwvsdp7MFPJLwO6edpIvXeqBzZBkg+DV4rDAQ94oiJFAcGl/y8Z75zav4X59/8kvaQ47d8RPDlq3qyo2l4LHoN79FiiEHiXB3gzVtB5aI/nwZ85WpB9063JdEBDrlGXLF7lwxoP7+7btKKukaNN4vJGPm0U3CkbTXtv5FZVOKLeM2eqEPM0x19v6xETaAtpc7vroMwmMlbM31qXdjz4P2/JGLL1hx/W5dldj1ZmIioZuI+uAO0AXKyMkironwmepGKu22WJg=="></form></body></html> kmerlin: KMService::slotAuthJobDone: USR 3 TWN S kmerlin: There were no uploads since 2004-08-25, so this is not really a surprise. I don't know why nobody else reported that, though. The package is probably just too low quality (no translations, hardly any manual) to be used and there are several alternatives. I couldn't find upstream (see 312048). http://kmerlin.sourceforge.net is mentioned in /usr/share/doc/kmerlin/copyright but I can't figure out how the current 1.4.2 could be obtained from there. Freshmeat also points to outdated stuff. If anybody else succeeds to connect to MSN with kmerlin, this bug should be downgraded at least to important. -- System Information: Debian Release: 3.1 APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.11 Locale: LANG=fr_CA.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_CA.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Versions of packages kmerlin depends on: ii kdelibs4 4:3.3.2-6.1 KDE core libraries ii libart-2.0-2 2.3.17-1 Library of functions for 2D graphi ii libc6 2.3.2.ds1-22 GNU C Library: Shared libraries an ii libfam0c102 2.7.0-6 client library to control the FAM ii libgcc1 1:3.4.3-13 GCC support library ii libice6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-14 Inter-Client Exchange library ii libidn11 0.5.13-1.0 GNU libidn library, implementation ii libpng12-0 1.2.8rel-1 PNG library - runtime ii libqt3c102-mt 3:3.3.4-3 Qt GUI Library (Threaded runtime v ii libsm6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-14 X Window System Session Management ii libstdc++5 1:3.3.5-13 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libx11-6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-14 X Window System protocol client li ii libxext6 4.3.0.dfsg.1-14 X Window System miscellaneous exte ii libxrender1 0.8.3-7 X Rendering Extension client libra ii xlibs 4.3.0.dfsg.1-14 X Keyboard Extension (XKB) configu ii zlib1g 1:1.2.2-4 compression library - runtime -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
