Please mention if
/dev/hd? -a -I 194 -I 5 -i 12 -s L/../../7/03
will match all that
$ echo /dev/hd?
matches.
Yes, the man page says
Unix users: please beware that the rules for extended regular
expressions [regex(7)] are not the same as
the rules for file-name pattern matching by the shell
[glob(7)]. smartd will issue harmless informa-
tional warning messages if it detects characters in REGEXP that
appear to indicate that you have made
this mistake.
but that might be talking about something different.
