Unfortunately, my upstream vendor requires 1.4.2 because they are developing against an old version of JBoss. I hope that in a year or two they will support a newer version of Java.
Having said that, I think if you make xulrunner conflict only with *old* versions of 1.4.2 then I could put in my own epoch and work around the problem.
