Well, they don't seem to see it as a problem. They say that all the mpi's have to live together so each of them have a subdirectory in /usr/include and its up to the user to choose with one to use. But that has nothing to do with alternatives. Perhaps we should get the openmpi people to put the alternative to their version and get the other mpi packages to not set the alternative?
