Package: reportbug Version: 3.43 Severity: normal After updating debian unstable (2008-07-18) on my system following issues occurs (some examples): * can't start gnome (only in save mode) * can't use sound card * can't use Pidgin OTR plugin
It looks like wrong permissions on files in /dev/. So for example /dev/null is only read and writable for user and group root. It seems that settings in /etc/udev/rules.d are correct. I updated the system with synaptic. Updated packages since 2008-07-18 are: acroread (8.1.2-0.3) to 8.1.2.su1-0.0 acroread-data (8.1.2-0.3) to 8.1.2.su1-0.0 acroread-escript (8.1.2-0.3) to 8.1.2.su1-0.0 acroread-plugins (8.1.2-0.3) to 8.1.2.su1-0.0 ash (0.5.4-10) to 0.5.4-11 cheese (2.22.3-1) to 2.22.3-2 debgtd (1.1-2) to 1.2-1 devscripts (2.10.33) to 2.10.34 dmsetup (2:1.02.27-1) to 2:1.02.27-2 dpkg-awk (1.0.1.0.0.1) to 1.0.1.0.0.2 gnome-menus (2.22.2-1) to 2.22.2-2 gsfonts (1:8.11+urwcyr1.0.7~pre43-2) to 1:8.11+urwcyr1.0.7~pre44-2 hpijs (2.8.6+2.8.6-1) to 2.8.6+2.8.6-2 hpijs-ppds (2.8.6+2.8.6-1) to 2.8.6+2.8.6-2 hplip (2.8.6-1) to 2.8.6-2 hplip-data (2.8.6-1) to 2.8.6-2 iceape-browser (1.1.10-1) to 1.1.11-1 iceape-gnome-support (1.1.10-1) to 1.1.11-1 iceape-mailnews (1.1.10-1) to 1.1.11-1 iceweasel (3.0~rc2-2) to 3.0.1-1 jabref (2.3.1-4) to 2.3.1-5 libcompress-raw-zlib-perl (2.011-2) to 2.012-1 libcompress-zlib-perl (2.011-1) to 2.012-1 libcpufreq0 (002-7.2) to 004-1 libcurl3 (7.18.2-6) to 7.18.2-7 libcurl3-gnutls (7.18.2-6) to 7.18.2-7 libdevmapper1.02.1 (2:1.02.27-1) to 2:1.02.27-2 libdvdnav4 (4.1.2-2) to 4.1.2-3 libdvdread3 (0.9.7-10) to 0.9.7-11 libgif4 (4.1.6-4) to 4.1.6-5 libgnome-menu2 (2.22.2-1) to 2.22.2-2 libhunspell-1.2-0 (1.2.5-1) to 1.2.6-1 libio-compress-base-perl (2.011-1) to 2.012-1 libio-compress-zlib-perl (2.011-1) to 2.012-1 liblircclient0 (0.8.2-2) to 0.8.3-1 libmozjs1d (1.9~rc2-5) to 1.9.0.1-1 libnss3-1d (3.12.0-2) to 3.12.0-4 libpcre3 (7.6-2) to 7.6-2.1 libperl5.10 (5.10.0-11) to 5.10.0-11.1 libssl-dev (0.9.8g-10.1) to 0.9.8g-11 libssl0.9.8 (0.9.8g-10.1) to 0.9.8g-11 libxfont-dev (1:1.3.2-1) to 1:1.3.3-1 libxfont1 (1:1.3.2-1) to 1:1.3.3-1 lsb-base (3.2-14) to 3.2-15 lsb-release (3.2-14) to 3.2-15 lvm2 (2.02.38-1) to 2.02.39-1 lynx (2.8.7dev9-1.1) to 2.8.7dev9-1.2 lynx-cur (2.8.7dev9-1.1) to 2.8.7dev9-1.2 manpages (3.02-1) to 3.03-1 manpages-dev (3.02-1) to 3.03-1 mozilla-acroread (8.1.2-0.3) to 8.1.2.su1-0.0 mysql-common (5.0.51a-9) to 5.0.51a-10 ntp (1:4.2.4p4+dfsg-6) to 1:4.2.4p4+dfsg-7 ntpdate (1:4.2.4p4+dfsg-6) to 1:4.2.4p4+dfsg-7 openssl (0.9.8g-10.1) to 0.9.8g-11 perl (5.10.0-11) to 5.10.0-11.1 perl-base (5.10.0-11) to 5.10.0-11.1 perl-suid (5.10.0-11) to 5.10.0-11.1 python-gmenu (2.22.2-1) to 2.22.2-2 reportbug (3.42) to 3.43 strace (4.5.15-1.2) to 4.5.16+cvs20080708-1 whois (4.7.26) to 4.7.27 wpasupplicant (0.6.3-2) to 0.6.4~git20080716.93ef879-1 xulrunner-1.9 (1.9~rc2-5) to 1.9.0.1-1 xulrunner-1.9-gnome-support (1.9~rc2-5) to 1.9.0.1-1 After this update and a reboot the problems occurred.
