I set it to "de,us" and I get the *exact* same behavior. I get the US 
flag even though the layout is "de" and when I switch from the keyboard 
I get "(null)". If I use setxkbmap nothing happens (as far as the plugin 
is concerned, the layouts are switched correctly).
