In order to make d-i use hotplug, it's useful to have a usbutils-udeb so that we can use lsusb to get names for USB devices (we formerly had this information in discover1-data). Here's a patch: http://patches.ubuntu.com/patches/usbutils.udeb.patch I've left usb.ids in /var/lib/misc in the udeb to go with pci.ids, since we don't need update-usbids in the udeb (in fact, it could go in /usr/share/misc ...); but it's not very important exactly where it goes.
