I believe that problem was already taken care of through the leading record .4oo mkdir sxw-%%0.dir in the <oo> segment of tex4ht.env http://www.cse.ohio-state.edu/~gurari/TeX4ht/tex4ht-env-unix.txt So I wonder whether the -p option is still needed.
