Package: digikam Version: 0.7.2-4 Severity: wishlist I noticed when copying some images from a USB mass storage camera using digikam that digikam loaded the images twice: once to calculate the thumbnails, then again to actually copy them. As it takes several minutes to transfer a full memory card off my camera, I would appreciate it if digikam could cache the images when it reads them to generate thumbnails, then just write the cached copies out to disk at the appropriate time. (e.g., speculatively copy them into a temporary directory within the digikam pictures directory, then use rename(2) to move them into place when the user decides where to put them).
