Package: ifupdown Version: 0.6.8+nmu1 I followed the procedure outlined in /usr/share/doc/wpasupplicant/README.modes.gz "3. Mode #2: Roaming Mode" which I assume most people with laptops would want to use, which gives me the following /etc/network/interfaces stanza for the wireless device:
allow-hotplug wlan0 iface wlan0 inet manual wpa-driver wext wpa-roam /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf iface default inet dhcp iface wwf inet dhcp iface wird inet dhcp iface wgguest inet dhcp When I run the command "ifup wlan0" or "ifdown wlan0" nothing at all happens. ifconfig does not show the interface listed. I am not sure how I am supposed to operate the wireless card. It would be helpful if there were a debconf script or something that could set up wireless cards for people and some document which better explains how to set up a wireless card to be able to handle roaming and work with wpa_supplicant. ifup and ifdown do not even output anything to /var/log/syslog when they are invoked, and there seems to be no other log what could be used to figure out what is going on. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
