Yes you should.... it's not clear what goes wrong on your machine and nobody else had such a problem. Can you provide a log of the upgrade session ? What does /var/log/dpkg.log show from you long upgrade session ? Did it really finish successfully after 5 hour ? Can you show the output of "ps auxf" while the overly long unpack is happening ? Do you have the problem with other packages as well ? Can you reproduce it on demand ? I'm pretty sure it's not an issue with dpkg itself. The most likely problem is that a maintainer script of the openoffice package get stuck... for an unknown reason. Maybe a locking problem with unopkg or similar complicated stuff that the openoffice package has to deal with.
