Package: libunwind
Severity: wishlist

Parts of google-perftools only work on x86-64 if libunwind is installed. However, it requires at least the libunwind-snap-070410 version (at least according to its "INSTALL" file). Since libunwind upstream doesn't appear to be much into making releases, it might be appropriate to simply grab their latest git tree? The rate of change does not seem particularly high, so it seems that it might be a fairly safe thing to do.

That version should at least additionally work on x86 and x86-64, and appears to have at least some support in the code for arm, hppa, ppc32/64, and mips.

I notice that Fedora has packaged a snapshot from 070224 and apparently builds it for ia64, x86_64, i386, and ppc64.

Thanks,
James
