Package: bitlbee
Version: 1.2-4
Severity: wishlist
In the &bitlbee channel, I get two kinds of messages: 1) interactions
with the bitlbee daemon; and 2) messages from non-"buddy" users.
Because both kinds of messages claim to be from "root", this is very
confusing. It's also impossible for me to use /ignore to ignore
unwanted messages from idiots. Here is an example transcript:
<root> jabber - New request: The user [EMAIL PROTECTED]
wants to add you to his/her buddy list.
<root> You can use the yes/no commands to accept/reject this
request.
<root> jabber - Message from unknown handle
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:
<root> You... you bloody basket!
I want these unwanted messages to seem to come from different nicks,
either
- as private messages (as is done for "buddies");
- as other nicks in the &bitlbee channel; or
- as other nicks in a secondary channel, say &unsolicited.
In this way, I can use my standard IRC tools to prioritize (ignore)
these unsolicitized messages.
