Package: meld
Version: 0.9.4.1+20050125-4
Severity: normal

Meld doesn't display line numbers any more. When opening the settings dialogue
(or looking at the Meld homepage at http://meld.sourceforge.net/index.html )
that Meld now requires pygtksourceview for syntax highlighting and displaying
line numbers. As both are fairly important features I don't understand why this
is not mentioned in the package description. There is no pygtksourceview package
available in Debian, maybe because it is young (6/2004) and already deprecated
in favour of bindings in the gnome-python-extras package as of GNOME 2.10
(see http://sourceforge.net/projects/pygtksourceview ).

I suggest that these things are somehow mentioned in the package description.
Maybe upstream should be contacted about future plans: will the developer move
to the GNOME 2.10 bindings or stick with pygtksourceview?

Kind regards

Andreas
