Package: hpijs
Followup-For: Bug #480865

Downgrading following packages solved the initial problem:

        hpijs                   [2.8.2+2.8.2-1 -> 2.6.10+1.6.10-4.2+lenny1]
        hpijs-ppds              [2.8.2+2.8.2-1 -> 2.6.10+1.6.10-4.2+lenny1]
        hplip                   [2.8.2-1 -> 1.6.10-4.2+lenny1]
        foomatic-db             [20080211-2 -> 20061031-1]
        foomatic-db-engine      [3.0.2-2008 -> 3.0.2-2006]
        foomatic-db-hpijs       [20080211-1 -> 20061031-1]
        foomatic-filters        [3.0.2-2008 -> 3.0.2-2006]
        hplip-data              [2.8.2-1 -> 1.6.10-4.2]

        gs-gpl                  [8.62.dfsg. -> 8.54.dfsg.]
        gs-esp                  8.15.3.dfs

However, when printing pdf documents with embedded images,
some of the images are printed as black squares. This happens
with the packages from unstable, too, and does not happen
with Gutenprint v5.0.2.

I have also installed the last release (hplip 2.8.5) from
http://hplip.sf.net on another system. The results are exactly
the same.
