Package: grub-common
Version: 1.96+20080413-1
Severity: normal
File: /usr/sbin/grub-probe
Hi,
it seems like grub is missing support for /dev/vd* devices. I placed
(hd0) /dev/vdc
in device.map and run grub-install hd0 and grub-probe keeps
overwriting the devcie.map with one containing only (fd0) and then
complaining it can't find /dev/vdc1 in it.
Replacing hda/hda1 with the ndoes for vdc/vdc1 and using that in
device.map makes it work. SO I guess grub-probe has some list of
devices it knows that needs extending.
