Package: dselect
Version: 1.14.18
Severity: normal

When there is a problem with some packages due to a dependency that
cannot be satisfied, dselect wants to remove packages even though it
is not indicated in the package list that they will be removed.

As an example, right now in Sid there is a problem with the following
packages:

g77 g77-3.4 libg2c0 libg2c0-dev

After pressing "Return" at the main package list, I get the following
list of problems before dselect returns to the main menu:

**** dselect displays this: ****

*** Opt devel gcc-3.4 The GNU C compiler
*** Opt devel gcc-3.4-base The GNU Compiler Collection (base package)
*** Opt devel g77-3.4
*** Opt libdevel libg2c0-dev
*** Opt libs libg2c0

*********

Notice that all of these are displayed with three stars (***). In the help
system (pressing '?', then 'i'), it is written that:

"You can use capital `Q' to force me to accept the situation currently
displayed,..."

Since they are all displayed with three stars, and I press 'Q', I expect
the packages to not be removed since they all have three stars. The best
solution would be that they are kept back, not removed. But dselect now
wants to remove these packages:

**** dselect output: ****

The following packages will be REMOVED
  g77 g77-3.4 libg2c0 libg2c0-dev

*********

Torquil Sørensen
