Note howewer that such source packages are not marked "Format: 1.0".
Anyway, I'm replacing this wishlist request by a more generic request.

Much work has been done on the dpkg-source side and since dpkg 1.14.17
we have support of many new source package formats (and they all support
gzip, bzip2 and lzma compression). Please check dpkg-source's manual page
for more information on those formats. You can create such source
packages with dpkg-source --format="3.0 (quilt)" -b mysrcpkg

It would be great if dak was able to cope with all of those new formats
but realistically I only want the "3.0 (quilt)" and "3.0 (native)" formats
to be accepted on ftp-master.

I would like to change dpkg-source's default output format in lenny+1
to "3.0 (quilt)" so it would be great if dak could be made to support
them. And a test dak repository to play with can be a good idea (CCing
Andreas Barth as he had some preminilary support for wig&pen in dak, maybe
he can point us to he code or help with the work).

I think I have added all the required support in the format "3.0 (quilt)"
so that extracting a Format: 1.0 source package with dpkg-source -x
followed by dpkg-buildpackage would provide a valid source package in
"Format: 3.0 (quilt)" that can be successfully built in all cases (if I
change the default output format in dpkg-source, cf @build_formats
at the top of dpkg-source).

Feel free to ask if you've got questions.

Cheers,
