Package: apt Version: 0.7.11 Severity: normal
To reproduce: aptitude install haskell-compiler This goes into dependency resolution mode, where it requests to first install the dependencies, but skipping the "mother" package ghc6. ghc6 provides haskell-compiler and the correct response should be to offer to install ghc6 and its dependencies. The correct behavior occurs when requesting to install ghc6 directly. There should be no difference between requesting ghc6 or "an alias" like haskell-compiler. -- Package-specific info: -- (no /etc/apt/preferences present) -- -- /etc/apt/sources.list -- deb http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/ lenny main deb-src http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/ lenny main deb http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/ lenny contrib non-free deb-src http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/ lenny contrib non-free deb http://security.debian.org/ lenny/updates main contrib deb-src http://security.debian.org/ lenny/updates main contrib -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: powerpc (ppc) Kernel: Linux 2.6.24-1-powerpc Locale: LANG=sv_SE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=sv_SE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages apt depends on: ii debian-archive-keyring 2007.07.31 GnuPG archive keys of the Debian a ii libc6 2.7-6 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libgcc1 1:4.3.0-1 GCC support library ii libstdc++6 4.3.0-1 The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 apt recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
