There is nothing dvgrab can do to migrate to the new stack; it does
not directly access /dev/raw1394. Rather, it uses libiec61883, which
uses libraw1394, which access /dev/raw1394 on the old stack. The two
kernel stacks have the same userspace interface. The bug is that
debian is more than likely not using the correct version of
libraw1394. There is a special "juju" version of libraw1394[1] that is
required for the new stack. The juju libraw1394 accesses /dev/fwN
device files. Eventually, there might be a "universal" libraw1394 that
will work on both stacks, but not at this time.
