Package: libgpewidget1
Version: 0.88-1
Severity: normal

I am the maintainer of the cairo libraries in debian and I have
recently made the request that they be removed from sarge as the API
is about to make a big change and it is probably a bad idea to ship
the old api version in a release:
  http://lists.debian.org/debian-release/2005/05/msg01167.html

Although this request is still under consideration, libgpewidget is
one of the few (2) apps using cairo going into sarge. I checked the
libgpewidget1 source and it seems there is alternate code if cairo is
not available, which was easy for me to enable with $(make) CAIRO=no
in the build rule.

Can I request libgpewidget is rebuilt without cairo, removing the
build dependency also.

Thanks

Dave
