While I agree with Senior Moreno's concern about list bloat, I do not share his problem with the rationale, namely because I see a clear difference between -security, -security-announce, -security-tracker and this requested list. They all have distinct purposes and distinct audiences.
Additionally, the list is needed and it is used, this much has already been demonstrated. The problem is that the audience is incorrectly focused because it is hosted on alioth, when this particular list makes sense to be available for a wider user/admin audience. Especially now that the testing-security repository is included in the lenny1 betas. I dont think its really making it 'more official' in that sense, but rather focusing the audience better so that those who could benefit from it have a better chance of actually benefitting from it.
