Nothing specific to _UTF-8_ indeed, but now that UTF-8 is the default,
figlet doesn't work correctly as soon as you use non-ASCII characters,
i.e. roughly any language but english; before the switch to UTF-8, at
least in latin1 locales figlet was working.
