I open up a terminal (aterm, but tested with xterm as well) and invoke mc -a :) http://nion.modprobe.de/mc-a.jpg Doing some further checking, it looks like this is an UTF-8 issue, it works fine with non-UTF-8 locales and doesn't with UTF-8.
