Rationale: 1) It make no sense to duplicate the same files in the archive, that is one package for each architecture, while the package content is the same. 2) The fact the package has to be built on i386/x86-64 doesn't mean it won't be useful for users of different architecture. Imagine I have an i386 computer I want to boot with PXE, and a eprom burner on a PowerPC machine. Installing etherboot on the i386 machine won't help me, while installing it on the PowerPC machine would allow me to burn the eprom that will be fitted in the 386 machine.
