In this thread (at least in the initial e-mail) it is \pdfoutput which in undefined, not \begin{document}. What's the actual problem on your system? Can you provide a minimal example document? Moreover, cslatex is a symlink to pdftex by default, so why should the patch make a difference? I'm not sure, but it might be on purpose what geometry.sty does.
