Any session manager should allow you to choose which window manager you're running. If it doesn't then that's a bug in the session manager imo (and in any case, it's just a matter of replacing the default window manager with fluxbox in your session and saving it). Or if you don't want to use any session manager, then you're welcome to use ~/.xsession. And in any case working around that in fluxbox by pretending to be a session manager is actively harmful.
