I also experience this bug with a Brother HL-1430. The problem seems indeed the USB backend, which shows the following output when called (as root) when the printer is in sleep mode: direct usb://HP/Photosmart%20Pro%20B8300%20series?serial=MY674110HQ04SQ "HP Photosmart Pro B8300 series" "HP Photosmart Pro B8300 series USB #2" "MFG:HP;MDL:Photosmart Pro B8300 series;CMD:MLC,PCL,PML,DESKJET,DW-PCL,DYN;CLS:PRINTER;DES:B8350;SN:MY674110HQ04SQ;S:0380908084001043002c1800020c2880012;Z:030,0503c289013ec9;"
It seems to me that only the other connected printer (a HP Photosmart) is reported. I can't post now the output with the Brother on, as I'm not physically next to it, so I can't disconnect and reconnect the USB cable, which always solves the issue. The cupsys I have is: ii cupsys 1.2.7-4etch2 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - server ii cupsys-bsd 1.2.7-4etch2 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - BSD comman ii cupsys-client 1.2.7-4etch2 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - client pro ii cupsys-common 1.2.7-4etch2 Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - common fil I can't upgrade to higher as this is a produciton server and we only run pure stable over there, so moving to testing or unstable to see if the bug is solved is not an option, unfortunately.
