Might it be that you are using lenny? A crucial fact that you didn't tell us, because you didn't use reportbug on your report. In that case it is clear: The version of prosper in lenny still uses tetex-* packages as default dependencies. However, as we already explained, the tetex-* packages have been replaced by metapackages that bring in quite a lot of texlive-* packages. The prosper version in sid does not have this problem, but hasen' migrated to lenny for quite some time now.
