Hello, as explained at [1], non-root programs needing PAM authentication through ThinkFinger must access the USB device (bug #469043 [2]) as well as the uinput one. The latter can be achieved through the following udev rule: --8<---------------cut here---------------start------------->8--- # the also-needed uinput device KERNEL=="uinput", MODE="0660", GROUP="fingerprint" --8<---------------cut here---------------end--------------->8--- Thx, bye, Gismo / Luca Footnotes: [1] http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_enable_the_fingerprint_reader_with_ThinkFinger#xscreensaver.2Fgnome-screensaver [2] http://bugs.debian.org/469043 -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (990, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.24-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages libpam-thinkfinger depends on: ii libc6 2.7-9 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libpam0g 0.99.7.1-5 Pluggable Authentication Modules l ii libthinkfinger0 0.3+rev118.2-2 library for the STMicroelectronics Versions of packages libpam-thinkfinger recommends: ii thinkfinger-tools 0.3+rev118.2-2 utilities for the STMicroelectroni -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
