After upgrading using "aptitude install ncurses-bin":
$ infocmp -C
# Reconstructed via infocmp from file: /lib/terminfo/x/xterm
xterm|X11 terminal emulator:\
... etc ...
and Term::Cap seems to work again. Thanks!
