The hfa384x_usbctlx_complete_sync error seems to have been fixed in the new version linux-wlan-ng 0.2.8+svn1850+dfsg-1.
With the modules built from this release, the card will be enabled automatically. This will break the firmware loading scripts in the linux-wlan-ng package, since they suppose the card to be disabled before the firmware loading starts.
