I've tried to use VICE without a real joystick, that is, with my keyboard only. It doesn't work :( I think I've selected the right options in the configuration (joystick -> numpad or custom keys). In doubt, I've also tried to recompile from the source, but the problem remains. I've also put some debug code here and there and the keyboard operations seem to be recognized. So I think there are two solutions : either there's a nasty bug, either I've completely missed a very obvious, RTFM level, information...
